Origins

"Origins" is short. Really short. We're given two parallel storylines, with the decisions in one being reflected in the other. Unlike "Raik", which does something similar, the two storylines really are separate: the objective is to manoeuvre the heroes of each narrative into meeting each other, so one can deliver a package to the other.

It's an interesting mechanic, and an interesting puzzle in its own right. However, I don't think that the story itself does it justice. We don't know enough about what's at stake to care about the delivery; nor do we know enough of the local geography to make any sense of the different turns that the characters make ... or what the counterpart decisions could mean. As a demo for a larger game, it could work; as a game in its own right, it's a little too lightweight and opaque.

For breakfast, a croissant and a cup of tea. Nicely presented, well produced, but not very filling.
